St James is part of God's presence in the community of Mere Green. We aim:

We are always pleased to welcome families as they bring their children to be baptised, or to couples as they celebrate the joy of marriage. We also seek to offer pastoral support at the painful times of life, such as sickness or bereavement.

Our church community offers a range of worship activities. Our Sunday morning Holy Communion at 10am is family friendly; the children join us part way through from Sunday Club and take delight in sharing what they have been doing with he whole congregation. Evening Prayer is then held at 6:30pm each Sunday. The monthly Parade Service involves the Uniformed organisations. In addition we hold a Communion Service on Wednesday mornings. For full details of our worship, including special services, please see the "Services and Events" section.

Members of St James are actively encouraged to take a full part in the life of the church, through involvement in worship, community outreach and social activities. We have regular contact with our local primary schools, a lively mother & baby group, Mothers Union and popular art groups. We are blessed with a recently modernised Church Centre. Many of our social events take place in the Centre, and it is also used by a range of Community groups and our Sunday Club. The Centre is also available for children's parties, baptism parties etc. by phoning 0121 308 0869. There is a large car park at the back of the Church Centre which is open weekdays from 6:30pm, all day Saturday and Sunday. If you are attending church or an event in the Church Centre you are welcome to use this car park. It is a short walk round to St James. If you have a problem with steps we have a level access at the side of the church which is signposted.
